What is happening with religious education 2021-22 at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish?
Religious Education classes at Our Lady of Mt Carmel Parish are combining with Divine Mercy and Christ the Bread of Life parishes this fall.
What is Family Faith Formation?
The term “Family Faith Formation” is really what we call religious education, or CCD. Research has shown that when parents teach their children matters of faith, the children are more likely to be lifelong participants in their faith.
Why are the programs combined this fall?
This combination is in preparation for the merger of the three parishes in January 2022.

When are classes to be held and where?
Grades 1-5 will meet once a month, in the Our Lady of Mt Carmel Church Hall (downstairs). These classes are for children and their parents. (Family Faith Formation) Times are listed on the registration form.
Grades 6-9 will meet once a week, in the Parish Center at Our Lady of Mt Carmel. The discussion style classes will meet approximately 3 times per month. See registration form for times.
When do classes begin?
Classes begin the first week in October, that is October 3-6
What about sacramental preparation, such as Reconciliation, First Communion, and Confirmation?
Classes will incorporate lessons for these sacraments after the foundation lessons are taught this fall.
How much does it cost, and is there scholarship?
Prices for the program are explained on the registration form. When submitting your form, make a note if scholarship is requested.
What does my registration cost pay for?
Families and students will be provided with books, Bibles and engaging materials for work at home and in class.
Who are the teachers and is help still needed?
Teachers are volunteers from the Church community. If you are available to help, please reach out to this email address and we will find a class for you to teach or a snack to serve during lessons. Many hands make light work. This new format of classes has lots of opportunities for getting involved.
Can English speakers attend the bilingual class on Tuesday?
Yes, the class will have materials and instruction in two languages.
The program is offered to any and all school -age children of the parish, grades 1-9, to provide a spiritual and prayerful foundation for children who are beginning to grow in their faith. In their classes, which are held during the school year, they have the opportunity to learn about God, the Church, the Sacraments, and what it means to be a follower of Jesus.
